1955 Cessna 180 Amphibian    $99,500

on the ramp in Yakutat, Alaska   June 2007

  • Airframe TT: 4,095 +/-
  • Engine:  O-470K  270 +/- TSMOH (done in 1999 by Lycon in Mesa, AZ)
  • EDO 2705 amphibious floats

Brief History:  Airframe Logs since 1965 (at 2,373 TT) – in Canada until 1999.  US Certificate of Airworthiness issued in 1999.  Airplane was inactive between 1983 and 1993 when the airframe was stripped and painted and the airplane generally restored.  The wings were replaced with wings from a Cessna 182, apparently to get the Horton STOL kit that was already installed on the replacement wings (prior to that, in 1982 elevator and wing damage were repaired.)

I bought the airplane in 1999 and have mostly flown it on amphibs, including numerous trips to Alaska and one very memorable trip to the Arctic Ocean.

The paint is OK – not flaking or chalking badly, but has been touched up with not-so-perfect “matching” paint.  The front seat are faded, but not torn.  The rear seat (not currently installed) looks good.  I pickle the airplane in the winter (preservative oil, desiccant plugs, desiccant in and seal off intake and exhaust, etc.)  -  it will be flyable again in early May.

The fuel bladders were replaced in 2003, and the entire exhaust in 2006.  Floats had lots of new bushings, and new pivot arms ($$$) etc. in 2005 – no shimmy.

Located at KPAE -  Paine Field (home of the Boeing jumbo jet factory) near Seattle.  Delivery is possible.
